Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has officially announced that they will start local assembly in India of their Range Rover and Range Rover Sport SUV Cars, this will have a significant price cut of Made in India Range Rover cars. The Managing Director of JLR, Rajan Amba stated “This is a proud moment for all of us in India, as we become the first country to locally manufacture the iconic Range Rover. It is a testament to the quality standards we have successfully achieved in local manufacturing in India, which are at par with JLR standards globally”.
The latest price of Range Rover LWB is ₹ 2.36 Crore and Range Rover Sport will be ₹ 1.4 Crore (ex-showroom) price in India. This make in India initiative by JLR for Range Rover, Sport will reduce the price by 20%. The deliveries of Range Rover Series has already commenced from May 24.
Local Assembly Operations of Jaguar Land Rover
JLR started its local assembly operations back in 2011 on Contract Manufacturing Agreement with Tata Motors and the Freelander was the first locally assembled product.
India will become the first country outside UK to produce Range Rover and Range Rover Sport, and will join their existing lineup of Velar, Evoque, Jaguar F-Pace and the Discovery Sport that are already being locally assembled at the JLR manufacturing plant in Pune. Along with aggressive price drop it will also decrease the waiting period of the two newly produced vehicles.
JLR has also announced the opening of Range Rover House in Alibaug, Maharashtra to cater the clientele of Range Rover customers and experience the Luxury of locally assembled Range Rovers to be made available on display.
Locally Assembled Range Rover Series
Range Rover series has always been a Luxury SUV choice of Celebrities, Sports Personality and Rich families in general selling approx. 350+ Units in FY24 – significant for SUV Cars having price range from ₹ 2 Crore+ in Indian market. Most of the Range Rover Rover sold in India are Long Wheel Base variant (LWB).
Land Rover has not yet completely declared the price list of India assembled Range Rover but stated that 3.0-Litre Diesel HSE LWB will now will priced at ₹ 2.36 Crore and the 3.0-Litre Petrol Autobiography will be priced at ₹ 2.60 Crore ex-showroom – Massive Price Reduction of ₹ 44 Lakh and ₹ 56 Lakh respectively which also seem to be more affordable than the recently launched Mercedes Mayback GLS 600. The short Wheelbase will be continued to full import as the 4.4-litre V8-engined variants.
The locally assembled Range Rover series will be provided in two engine options – the 3.0-litre six-cylinder Petrol producing 392hp and 550Nm, and the 3.0-litre six-cylinder Diesel producing 345hp and 700Nm.
Made In India Range Rover Sport
The Range Rover Sport in India sold 400+ units in FY24 as import versions, the cost of the vehicle ranges from ₹ 1.69 Crore to ₹ 2.8 Crore. The Indian assembled Range Rover Sport will be available in two engine options 392hp, 3.0-litre Petrol and 345hp, 3.0-litre Diesel engines.
The Deliveries are expected to start from 16th August, 24. The locally assembled Range Rover Sport starts at ₹ 1.40 Crore for both the Petrol and Diesel options having a massive price drop by 29 Lakh
