Maharashtra’s First Formula Night Street Race Set for December 2025 in Navi Mumbai

Navi Mumbai is gearing up to host Maharashtra’s first Formula Night Street Race this December 2025, marking a historic milestone in the state’s motorsport history. This highly anticipated event will be the grand finale of the Indian Racing Festival (IRF) 2025 and will bring the thrill of FIA-grade street racing under city skies for the very first time in Maharashtra

An official Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Racing Promotions Pvt. Ltd. (RPPL) and the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) in the presence of Maharashtra’s Respected Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, highlighting the state government’s commitment to positioning Maharashtra as a global hub for world-class motorsport events. The new Navi Mumbai Street Circuit has earned FIA certification, making it the first-ever FIA-grade street racing circuit in Mumbai.

The 3.753 kilometer race track has been specially designed to challenge the skills of the drivers with 14 demanding turns. Starting at the iconic Palm Beach Road, the circuit snakes through the wide boulevards of Navi Mumbai alongside the picturesque Nerul Lake, creating a spectacular scenic backdrop for high-speed racing action under the night sky.

The night race weekend will showcase a double-header featuring two prestigious championships: the Indian Racing League (IRL) and the FIA-certified Formula 4 Indian Championship (F4IC). The IRL is known as India’s first gender-neutral racing series, promoting inclusivity and featuring six city-based teams backed by star-studded owners including Bollywood actors John Abraham, Arjun Kapoor, and former cricketer Sourav Ganguly among others. The fierce competition promises adrenaline-pumping action and top-tier motorsport entertainment.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis praised the event as a landmark occasion that will inspire the next generation of racers and boost employment opportunities while fueling tourism and showcasing Maharashtra’s event-hosting capabilities on the international stage. He highlighted that this race will motivate young talents not just in motorsport but also across engineering, technology, and event management fields.

With Mumbai joining the Indian Racing Festival calendar, Maharashtra joins an elite group of global cities to host iconic street races, following earlier editions in Hyderabad, Chennai, Coimbatore, and Goa. The introduction of the night street race in Navi Mumbai also aligns with efforts to grow a sustainable motorsport ecosystem in India.
